Hi guyz,
gave my exam on d 5th Nov and just thot i shd give back to this forum what i got from it.Would like to say thanks 2 all of u,esp TAC,Zivago, to mention a few as i can't remember d names again.U guyz r awesome!
I used Kaplan books basically,did d Kaplan Q-book(>75% at first attempt,higher subsequently) and flipped thru Crush step3 in d last days b4 d exam as i didn't have d step2 edition.
NBME questions(630,690) were d closest to d real exam and if u do well on both,d exam is 4 ur taking. In case u can't purchase it,u can go back to check the postings of the months of Sept and Oct. on this forum .Is a pity,d fire in d forum has died down a bit,we all have 2 fire it up cos is really helpful!
and my humble score,97/240.

That's weird that we did the test on the same day and you got your score already. The scores should come in on Sat. for me. Oasis was updated last night. Anyhow, good job.

Dr wome,
I'm using the first aid for the cs and basically advice from people. The good thing about the first aid is that it has practice cases and you can get family or friends to be the standardized patient. Also, I've picked up some great mnemonics on this forum in the cs room.
I checked out the cd sent by ecfmg and it gives us an idea of how the patient encounter will be like. It's a video so I thought it was pretty cool. What do you plan on using?

MGE,
i'm planning to use the UW online materials.
i heard that the first aid has a lot on differential diagnosis and inv,is that true?
i'm just a bit afraid of what to expect on that day.
and i haven't gotten someone to practice with.
do u think a non-medical person would b ok?

CONGRATULATION dr wome!
for Step2 CS, I think UW cases are good soure to practice. All you need is try to find a parner(non-medical person is OK) to practice.GL.

dr wome,
It's true, the first aid has a section on differential diagnoses. Not only that, but I think it's cool because it starts off a section on, for example, Headaches, then it tells you what you should look for and then it has a bunch of sample cases with differential dx., and the lab workup.
I've been practicing with family not in the medical field. The first aid has a checklist for them to check off after i ask the question. It also has what they should answer.
The other book I was thinking about getting was the NMS. That book, however, focuses A LOT on the physical exam. I feel pretty solid in my physical exam part so I didn't think I needed it. It's a great book though, very detailed.
