Dear Doctor:
It is understood that non-US medical schools are usually not familiar
with the concept of the Dean's Letter (MSPE).
Therefore, here are your four choices, in the order of desirability:
1. Try to get an MSPE from your medical school or
2. try to get a Dean's Letter from them or,
3. if you have an old Dean's Letter, send a copy of it to us.
4. If none of this is possible, be sure to click NO in the Common
Application Form (CAF), that you do not have a Dean's Letter or MSPE.
Note: If you do not submit a Dean's Letter or MSPE and you fail to click
NO, your application will show up on the Program Director's Workstation
as "Incomplete". By clicking NO, the question has been answered. They
will no longer expect a Dean's Letter or MSPE, and the item "Dean's
Letter/MSPE" has a check mark.
Click on the FAQs button at
www.ecfmg.org/eras and click on MSPE/Dean's
Letter for more details.
Sincerely,
Your ERAS Crew at ECFMG/Mr. J.

BTW, I read the first aid for match. It says that dean's letter is the last document the program looks at. And for IMG, this is the least important material for getting into the residency.
It is better to have one. But if you cannot get one, just remember to click NO in the Common Application Form (CAF), that you do not have a Dean's Letter or MSPE.
