What is the difference between general IM vs. family medicine? As far as I know, both manage their own clinics. If there is no difference, why it is more difficult to get in a primary IM program than a family medicine program? Please advice. Thanks in advance.

First, I believe it is a misconseption that FP is easier to get then IM; true, they tolerate lower scores, but they more often require at least 6-12 of USCE plus sponsor for visa less frequently
As far as differences:
IM: care for adults, can subspecialize, slightly higher pay, easier to get job in large cities
FP: IM, peds, ob/gyn, primary care only, less pay, more suitable for rural areas and smaller towns / cities

There are plenty specialists in big cities;
ob/gyn component is definitely out - there are plenty ob/gyn practicioners; hospitals would prefer IM and Peds board certified physicians as well large practices
