radcrazy, firstly congratulations of such great scores. Having said that, most IMG applicants (not all) have a 99 and some rarely triple 99 who match to radiology. The double digit scores are irrelevant in radiology. What matters is your triple digit scores. If you have some time like > 255 it is excellent and you will garner more interviews. If you have them between 245 and 255 then you will have to supplment you application with extracurriculars, research and such things. i would say 12 invites will be necessary for IMGs to successfully match; while there might be some who matched with less invites!
My personal opinion is you should apply; but not this late. Last year i applied late and i did not get as many invites as i would have liked! And your GC is a definite plus point. Most programs out there wont sponsor a visa! And you prelim year idea is exactly what i did last year. I am currently doing my prelim year BTW.

Radcrazy,
Applying for radiology after categorical IM is difficult. In the sense medicaid only would pay for one residency. It is better to apply for a prelim medicine position, and try for radiology next year, if programs open up. Sometimes they do.

Congratulations Blackjack.
I followed your radiology thread from last year. You have great credentials and I think you will definitely match this year. I have a question for you. I am applying for both neurology and radiology. My personal statement for prelim position is the radiology PS with some tweaking. I am worried as to which programs to apply with this sop and to which with neurology sop. Or should I go ahead and apply to all prelim positions using rad prelim sop. Also, is it advisable to write the specialty in ERAS box where it asks if you are applying for preliminary track you "may" mention your specialty interest here. Thanks |
