I did my IM residency @kingsbrook(2004-2009).It's a 3 year program.The real "teaching" is only in the ICU/CCU(only in 2nd year).The elcetive rotations which u do in 3rd year are a waste.You don't rotate thru the University Hospital affiliate(SUNY downstate) and therefore do not get to see Cardiac Caths(during Cards rotation) or Endoscopies during GI(even though kingsbrook has an endoscopy suite).You wont get a fellowship after residency.There is no research and little emphasis on Academics/Journal Club etc.
Neighborhood is not good but that can be avoided by living in other areas of brooklyn and commuting by car.

There was only one resident from our batch who got an ID fellowship.He was originally from Peru but did his 1st year prelim from Cleveland Clinic Florida with some sort of research in ID
