Does anyone know what the definite diagnosis of dermatomyostis is?? Some books say electromyography, some say muscle biopsy...does any one know?? thanx

Biopsy of clinically involved muscle is the only specific diagnostic test. Electromyography is helpful to establish the Dx, but not specific.

I think electromygraphy will just tel u that there is some abnormality with muscle but it wont help u to diagnose Dermatomyositis...........skin Biopsy is diagnostic.U'll see Endomysial somethingsss .i forgot, can remember right now.
