In all the cases, just ask for any h/o fever, chills, night sweats, headache, cough, SOB, chest pain, abd pain, N/V, constipation/ diarrhea/ urinary problems to finish ROS questions. I have tried with study partner and it takes like 30 secs. These can also be asked as filler Qs when you feel like you blanked out when in the middle of HPI.

I would drape the pt as soon as you finish introducing yourself:
"let me drape you first, so that you feel more comfortable" while you unfold the drape and put the drape on the pt's l lap.
