pyruvate to acetyl CoA - mleforreal
#1
it is an oxidative decarboxylation trn catalysed by pyruvate dehydrogenase compex.location is mitochondria.it is irreversible and free energy change -33.4kj/mol,and thus CHO can be conversted to fat but not vice-versa..there is no net synthesis of glucose from fat.
PDH is a multi-enzyme complex consisting of 3 enzymes E1,E2,E3.As the enzymes are physically asociated, the reactions occur without release of intermediates.PDH also require 5 coenzymes-TPP,CoA,NAD+,FAD and lipoic acid.5 reactions steps are involved.
