central vertigo- vertical or multidirectional, nonsuppressible with fixation, nondefatigable, no latent period, other central features like diplopia, dysarthria etc,

peripheral- unidirectional, latent period present, fatigable after a while, supressed with fixation, usually horizontal, has tinnitus, hearing loss etc additionally.
