please guys can you clarify the antibiotics to use in preop of cancer of stomach and pancreas.

i thought about cefazolin and metro.

but, cefazoln would enough.

UW ccs uses ampi + metronidazole and genta for prophylaxis of colon cancer, but gastric and pancreatic cancer has also been tested.
Did you do nbme, uw or usmle cd?

any gi surgerry cover gm negative and anaerobe
cipro+metro and if elderly and in shock add ampicillin.....
cefazolin want cover gm negative as it is first generration
u can use 3rd generationn cephalo+ metro too

...by the way the antibiotics I mentioned before are for perforated ulcer, not for pre op colon cancer. For pre op colon cancer are Metronidazole and Cefotaxime.
