i thought about cefazolin and metro.
but, cefazoln would enough. you can look here -- http://www.aafp.org/afp/980600ap/woods.html i am trying hard for appearing exam very soon. i do not now though yet! nimish, defenitely can be a help.

UW ccs uses ampi + metronidazole and genta for prophylaxis of colon cancer, but gastric and pancreatic cancer has also been tested. Did you do nbme, uw or usmle cd?

any gi surgerry cover gm negative and anaerobe
cipro+metro and if elderly and in shock add ampicillin..... cefazolin want cover gm negative as it is first generration u can use 3rd generationn cephalo+ metro too

I wish you all the best. ...by the way the antibiotics I mentioned before are for perforated ulcer, not for pre op colon cancer. For pre op colon cancer are Metronidazole and Cefotaxime. thanks again I haven't read neeraj notes, but someone mentioned before that they're worth reading b4 the exam. ...all the best. |
