my understanding is that always start heparin and if the embolus is in the extremities you would go for Sx Embolectomy

does it depend on hour of presentation.
kaplan says life of LIMB is 6hrs. If person comes within first 3 hrs u can give heparin. If after 3 hrs or 4 hrs...no time for heparin.....so rush for surgery Came across 2 qtns somewhere with different answers anyone input

if presented in less than 6 hours it is iv heparin then angiography and then surgical embolectomy.
If close to or more than 6 hours then it is iv heparin then surgical embolectomy with angiography done in OR |
