telomerase basically adds telomeres to chromosome ends

on the telomerase enzyme, T's are used in the RNA template. This was an inadvertent

error. Since this template is RNA, these should be U's

so it's actually reverse transcriptase like HIV posess

Sorry I didn't follow you Gotcha.
Telomerase is an enzyme used to maintain the telomeres which are repetitive sequences at the end of DNA and are inadvertently lost during repication.
Telomerase possesses reverse transcriptase activity and a short mRNA sequence complementary to the telomere. So telomerase is basically an anti aging enzyme as it keeps replanishing the lost telomeres and prolonging the life of telomere and the DNA. But telomerase activity is not found in all cells. Only in germ cells and stem cells. Cancer cells also possess it and is the reason there is no check on their division. Latest research is focussed on curbing the activity of telomerase so that repication of cancer cells can be stopped.

Telomerase is RT, but still different from HIV RT, not only it is only in proliferating mammalian cells. but also it contains the RNA templete with itself.

Human telomerase is an RNA-protein containing enzyme that synthesises DNA at the end of the chromosomes

Telomerase function is key to the biology of cancer and ageing.
