Goljan Path says:
Non-neoplastic overgrowth of disorganized tissue indigenous to a particular site.

Baisically, if you take the lung as an example:
A bronchial hamartoma contains all of the different types of tissues found in the bronchus, but in a disorganized manner. ie. tissues that are all supposed to be there but are disorganized.

On the other side of the spectrum, you have a Choristoma (Heterotopic Rest) which is non-neoplastic tissue in a foreign location. i.e. normal tissue, organized and all, but not where it is supposed to be, for example pancreatic tissue in the stomach wall...

Hope that help....
