What all to in examination of back : range of movements.

In a pt of back ache, should we ask him to do it, will elicit pain.

no do not let them do it if they have lots of pain. Just palpate the area once to determine area of maximal tenderness and make ur differentails, like renal pain or verteberal origin etc.
Then go on to reflexes etc.
