should you wait for their answers, or just keep going.
Eg Have you considered quitting smoking? Shuld i wait fro him to reply

the smoking cessation counselling case given in UW, is that the pattern to be followed in all cases.
It seems very long if you have to say all that at the end of a long case of soemthing else.

counseling (for this part, one or two sentences is fine. you can give a 100 sentences one, but still claim the same credit as you give a couple of sentences of counseling.)

For smoking cessation, just Tell the patient: Are you aware of the side effects smoking can cause? Are you interesting in quiting? If so, we have a professional team to help you out. If he says no, then tell him: well, sit on that idea for a day or two. I can give you a brochure later on this issue. " Then stop here, you can keep going on, but these sentences have already earned you the credit on conseling. So move on to the next step.

My habit is to do the counselling right after the SP exclose his problem. Otherwise I might forget about it. Just use 20 to 30 seconds to cover the counseling.
