What does "categorical" and "advanced& - beat21

I don't know what they are implying in a program. Thanks in advance

Advanced is a program that require you to complete one or more years of residency before applying, you can start a categorical, with no previous training

Advanced position means you start training in PGY 2 with having done PGY 1 in either preliminary year or transitional year. You have to get both these positions thru the match.

Categorical - all the training will be done in same program. PGY 1 til you finish
