Hi ,
i dont know what to do, i took my exams few days ago & it was just so so tough, none of the q- banks helped although i was scoring btw 60-80% during practice, i thought i was ready, but the exam was just so tough, the first block was just too cool, & then... the rest i was struggling to finish before time, now i remember some that i picked the wrong answers... i just cant sleep right cos i feel like i have failed, i have never felt so bad about any exams, i dont know what to do next.. i can't even register for step 2..... wondering if anyone experienced this after their exams & how was the result when it finally came..,,sorry for the long mail.

Hi Nikky,
Don't feel bad.I guess everybody feels in this way after writing theirs.I will be giving mine next month so i do not know exactly how u feel. But some of my friends felt in the same way and one of them got 93%.If u were following the past replies then some of them got in the range of 65 to 80%
got above 80%.Quit worrying.

i hope usmle has been treating everyone who takes the exam very fair regardless examinee's backgroud, age, gender and graduated med schools. my set of the test was also very very tough and many rare and weird qs, some of them just totally undoable. i think i have read quite thoroughly. after the exam, my heart almost broken, and i was just speechless. my qbank was 60-70%. finally, i failed. my friend with qbank 67% and with the same background as me took the exam one day after me also failed. it really makes me wondering if the exam is really fair. i asked some of qs which i remembered to the friends who were recently scored for >95 but with different background, they also felt they don't know how to do it. they did not have many difficulty qs like these. what i can say, where is the god?

Every one goes through this phase. You tend to remember only difficult questions. Do't worry Nalini. You will do fine. Take rest and Enjoy.

Thank you all for the encouraging words, i just hope it will make me feel better, although it is good to know i'm not alone in this, i expect my results in 3wks too... i hope, but i hear it can take as long as 6 wks, i pray i just get it soon, so i can know what to do next...... i dont think it is sensible to go ahead & register for step 2 when i dont even know if i passed step 1...... what do u think?, & if i do register for it, will i be able to study well with my state of mind?, really i am kind of confused & somehow demoralized.... thanks again.

Partner,
we have been thinking in the same way because we have the same situation at present.
I think you can start preparing for step 2 just like me ,then when you see your result which I know is going to be better than you think ,you can then go ahead to register for step 2 and schedule your exam.Sincerely it is hard being in this situation but sooner than later we shall be out Nikki,so let us use suppression as a defence mechanism out of this.!!!!

Salbato....u remind me of a friend called salbato tuyonki???.. yeah u are right... my books will soon be here, i hear that this new csa thing is not it... & i see step 1 B/S is still there, i agree with u on the supression thing, but if i had my way i will go way way low to repress this feeling, it just that u cant choose to repress somthing i guess. thanks for the advice, i guess life goes on...
