The experience I remember from a while back, it was a chill interview. Basic questions like why here, what are you goals (important question b/c this is a community hospital, so if you're a fellowship seeker then you may not be a suitable candidate for this program). One interviewer may ask you to present a medical case with the objective of making sure that you are capable of presenting medical information in a clear, concise and professional way.

Thanks Vitriol. Its one program I'm quite interested in because of location. I am just hoping they dont ask medical questions Wink

lol. That's exactly why I originally applied to ACRMC. The prospect of living in such a place was so appealing! Food is great (since it's Casino based food). There should be plenty of interesting people to socialize with.

But before you go, do consider the following in addition to the positives: Such cities do attract a shady crowd of people...Cost of living is expensive (make sure to spend a great deal of time looking for a place to live because rent is high and you want to grab an affordable place). Also, during the winter months, it's extremely cold and it takes a while for it to warm up...(the Atlantic Ocean...)

In terms of medical: I don't think you'll see much unique and rare pathology...but you'll see tons of bread & butter medicine...CHF, HD, Emphysema, STD's...especially with an older crowd which likes to live on the edge and smoke. Plus, there should be a younger crowd and a behind the curtains sex scene which will bring with it HIV (that's my speculation)...

Also, did you apply to University of Nevada, Las Vagas??

GL to you

oh yeah...how can I forget: plenty of alcoholics and drug abusers and the ensuing co-morbidities...so there's plenty of learning for you as a physician.

Thanks a bunch, Vitriol. I did infact apply to programs in Las Vegas but didnt get interview calls. I applied in end-october so guess they already sent out most IVs by then.

Lets see how the IV goes. I am eventually interested in private practice so fellowships doesnt really matter.

Anyone else has any particular info. please share..

Well, if you're interested in IM general practice and not fellowships, that opens up a whole arena for an IMG...

What type of program (size etc..) and location are you looking for?

My thinking has changed a bit in past few weeks... I have decided to go for friendlier community programs (I must say initially I was more into Univ-based IM or top FP programs). I will decide during residency whether to stay to go back to India. I applied IM and Fp programs (preference was IM). Overall, location doesnt really matters to me as such.. we cant ask too much being IMGs. But I would prefer NJ just because I have friends here.

I think your thinking has changed in the right direction, especially if you're not interested in fellowships...there are plenty of excellent community training programs out there.

I'm afraid you picked a state in which I didn't apply to many programs...

As for Atlantic Care, It is a solid program. And it is a friendly program. I'm not sure about the PD b/c I never interacted directly with him. But I can tell you that the secretary is awesome! She's like your older sister away from home.

GL with Atlantic Care...I wouldn't be surprised if they offered prematch...
