Applying for a fellowship is similar to the residency process. YOu have to write a statement for the spec you are applying to, apply to the programs through ERAS, attend interviews and go through the grind of the Match.

Hi dockhan

For fellowship, first you should find out the centers which are running those programs. After that, send in your updated CV alongwith LORs to them. If they like your CV, they may call you for an interview. After the interview there are two ways: Either program is participating in the match or not participating in the match.

If program is participating in the match you'll have to register in the NRMP for fellowship (not through ERAS). visit www.nrmp.org/fellow/index.html

Residency match and fellowship match are two different things.

If program is not particiapating in the match it can directly give you an offer. Its more like a job search.

Just to summarize:
1- Search the centers where fellowships of your interest are carried out.
2- send them your CV & LORs.
3- Try to interview with them.
4- If program is participating in the fellowship match - register for the match.
5- If program is not particiapating in the match- they may reject or accept you directly.

Hope it helps
