is it a good idea to ask residents............. - 88blue
#1
Hi, i just came back from a second visit. I befriended some residents at the program. Now, I just want to know if it is against the Match rules to like ask them about my chances, not necessarily where they will rank me? Do you think it is a good idea? Do residents have a say in choosing applicants for residency?

You can ask the residents if you want, but don't expect any accurate answer. More likely than not, they won't have a clue about the ranking or your chances. That is something that stays within the selection committee, in which the residents don't have any role. We only have dinner with the applicants and give hospital tours.
