what is the first test for osteomylitis - drshe

is it technetium bone san,MRI or plain x ray?

conrad fischer says Xray but xray is usually negative in first 2 weeks
so if soft tissue swelling present do an MRI
if no swelling present do a bone scan

bone scan has a lot of false positives in case of soft tissure inflamm so clinically look for the presence or absence of swelling and then decide

this is what i got out of his lecture... but maybe some one else has another opinion.. i am sure someone from the forum would confirm this so do wait for sometime

geee angel i am not always right..!!!!! ive learnt a lot from ppl on the forumi have just started.
well its getting kinda boring on the forum and i was doing neuro theory .. just started neuro qs so thought i would post some.

UW says Bone Scan in One Explanation
UW also says MRI at another explanation

I think its controversial but MRI is better but at same time more expensive not readily available

first test mri
most sensitive mri
if u not know site of osteomylitis then bone scan
readily available xray
