how fo you get an advanced PGY-2 ? there are pgy-1 spots available fot applicants that need pgy-1 and that already got accepted to a pgy-2...how is it possible?? please clarify.

I don't quite get your Q. Are you asking why there will be some PGY2 openings? Well, some people drop in the middle, some transfer to another program.

lol..ok....let me express myself better.
Some programs are currently offering a designated pgy1 position. So.... to get that spot you need to have been accepted to a pgy-2 in this match season....how is that possible?

ease_doc, those are the advanced positions for specialties like anesthesia, ortho, ENT, Opthal etc......

.....ok....but is it possible to get an advanced position ( in anesthesia for example) and NOT get a first year? what do you do then? do you lose that advanced position?

Yes, someone matched into advance position but didn't get preliminary position then he lost his advanced one too last year.
