Hey all,
Just wanted to bring this to attn of folks who have had their hopes pushed up high and are rushing out getting papers ready for an observership post that has been dangled infront of their hopeful eyes.
Before spending bucks on those expensive immunization screen tests and on speed courier to & from Deans office in your college and back to hospital, scanning-printing international faxing etc. and more importantly before starting to build castles in the air, thinking this might be the one, PLEASE make sure that the person who makes the final decision at the hospital, is aware you are an IMG applying for Ob/ship.
Purse empty, ears steaming. Quite honestly, If I wernt feeling so foolish right now, I'd say I was actually taken for a ride.
Not that everyone would encounter such things. This might be my exclusive experience, my Karma! lol

very depressed, yeah me too :o).......to further explain the same thing, do make sure, all the poeple who would be deciding on your ob/ship application is aware that you are an IMG and that that is okay with them. This is only if you come across a situation that you will have to spend money and enormous amount of time on their application process.
I am sure not all hospitals make you go through this, and some are more application-friendly so to speak.

I don™t know why people are so crazy about getting massively expensive observership.Checked many programs they want hands on clinical experience not just observing someone else a_s.most programs consider observership not a hands on clinical experience.well those which consider it are less competitive and community based programs . we know there are plenty of double 99 out there and most obviously when one compare good scores and 1-2month observership ,scores usually get the preference and then comes the interview .if one is not good at interview then even the good scores cant rescue ,I was thinking why people are pleading ,begging and getting humiliated to get an observership.the bottomline is good score ,getting at least 6 month elective when in medical college ,applying well in time and wisely,preparing well for the interview .tthen where does the observership stands ,people say you get to know the pd and lor ,in reality do you think It will help, when you have so many people doing observership and rubbing their a_s to impress the pd .i think by this we are making pd more arrogant and stubborn
I have no concern if one is getting observership for free and has time but I think having some clinical hands on experience in your home country in a good hospital is better than observing in USA community based hospital.
Img already had to pay hugely starting from steps to visa to travel and now for observership,O god we are the contributors to the economy of this country .
Well none the less as they say follow the herd mentality so did I and managed to get observersip for free after many rejections at florida for 1 month .
These all were my humble views if some one is hurt my apologies .would love to hear from you

I checked many programs they want Hands On Booty Spanking experience not just observing someone else a_s. Most programs consider Booty observersing not a hands on clinical experience. Anybody, including the dirty old blind man, can observe a good booty.
We know there are plenty of Smooth Hands out there and most obviously when one compare good Smooth Hands and 1-2month observership, Smooth experienced hands usually get the preference. Then comes the interview. If one is not good at interview then even the Smooth Hands can't rescue from a glued-laced Booty. I was thinking (something I rarely do) why people are pleading, begging and getting humiliated to get a Booty observership. The bottomline (pun intended) is good SMOOTH HANDS which are trained to spank a firm Booty. Getting at least 6 month elective (while in the Grocery line) when in medical college, applying well in time and wisely (those Booties Move Fast!), preparing well for the interview (Keep 'em hands trained). Tthen where does the observership stand? Your hands were in your pocket the whole time you were observing that Booty!
My momma told me that you get to know the PD's Backside and get LoR's about your Booty Spanking skills. But, in reality do you think it will help when you have so many people doing observership and rubbing their a_s to impress the PD?? I think (for the second time today) we are making PD more arrogant and stubborn. Afterall, if the PD is having his Booty Spanked and Shined by everyone, why should the PD settle for a Booty observer?

Hi sc98....long time! Glad to know you passed step3. Congrats! Happy to know the journal helped atleast someone. lol
As for me, I think you can figure out fom the main post, what happened to my step 3. Ob/ship search ruled my life, haath dho ke peeche pad gayi thi. Like quaidian148's humble view, 'Crazy about it' :o)
BTW quaidian148, this wasnt sposed to be a paid ob/ship. The payment I did was for the routine infec/immunization screening that most Univ programs ask you to undergo priorhand. The rest was for the international faxing of papers, speed courier etc. Anyway, end of story abt that, here.
