Do we need to admit a pt with pyelonephritis to the hospital. I read from kaplan that we do not need to to so. While First aid said that we should. Whilch opinion is correct?

if positive lipstick signs- manage outpatient....oral fluoroquinolones
if negative lipstick signs- iv ampicillin+ iv gentamycin

that is if pt come swith lipstick signs, it means th case is uncomplicated.....and vice a versa

Hi,
I think that in pyelonephritis is an important disease and we need to admit those patients, or just we need to look general compromise and see whos need to be amitted.

Generally U could treat Pyelo out patient, But if there are any complications U need to Admit them
Complications: 1. no response to oral ABX 2. unable to take oral ABX 3. signs of urosepsis 4. Pregnancy 5. patient s with any other complications of KUB
