Quick Question--MVP - ben

Pt has MVP w/ regurgitation, and ECHO confirmed the regurgitation & Valve Thickening & the answer was that she needs prophylaxis before dental surgery

what i wanna know is, is it b/c of the regurgitation (does that mean she has a Murmur??) or b/c of the valve thickening, she needs prohlylaxis??

BEN I THINK WHEN MVP BECOMES SYPMTOMATIC LIKE IT GIVE RISE TO MR......THEN WE GIVE PROPHYLAXIS...........

it is because of the regurigation.

Regugitation...if u say u have MVP u need prophylaxis irrespective what eslse more she/he has there

reh kaplan say that only if Murmur is heard (i.e Regurgiation) and UW adds if there is Valve Thickening will Pts need prohylaxis (no Prohy if the pt is Asymtp)
