A 19yr old man presents to the emergency deptt after a car accident in which he was driving drunk. He was wearing a seat belt and sustained only minor cuts n bruises.When questioned about his history of drinking alcohol, he states that he has driven while intoxicated before and that his rinking has caused him to miss work on a few occasions. He was arrested twice for driving under the influence. He says his drinking caused his parents to force him out of the house last month. When questioned further, he states that in the past it took hime a few drinks to get intoxicated,now it takes him alot more. C. Dependence involves tolerance and intoxication as well as withdrawal symptoms when the drug is not used

ans is c..all others indicate alcohol abuse. Only tolerance to a certain amount and withdrawl symptoms on abstaining from it indicate dependance.
