hi guys,

can we use Metrogyl in ist trimester..Kaplan OBG says..metrogyl can be safely used in Pregnancy..including 1st trimester...

any inputs guys..add any citations if u can..?

this is what I found..


metrogyl..Crosses the placenta (carcinogenic in rats); contraindicated for the treatment of trichomoniasis during the first trimester of pregnancy, unless alternative treatment is inadequate. Until safety and efficacy for other indications have been established, use only during pregnancy when the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

UW and Kaplan contradict use of Metrogyl in 1st trimester..i searched online for the latest updates n decided to go with Metrogtl contraindicated in 1st trimester..
