what are we supposed to say to a pt that wants a refill for pain meds? or a refill for hypertensive meds? do we give them or tell them that we have to run some tests 1st??????

First ask what brought him there..he will tell you he has come for drug refill...then ask him whether you can ask him some questions abut that disease...then ask..how long has he been diagnosed...how when did he start medications..Is he compliant on the medications..If so compliment her on that..ask her about any complications related to the medications..then any complication related to the disease...ask her if he is doing regular check up...ask him fif the disease is controlled..how frequently he is testing his bl sugar if he is diabetic....examine all complications related to ds dont forget the fundus..and sensory examination... dont forget dietary history and councelling on diet... I think these are the main points.......

giving refills is not the pont here I think...they wouldnt trouble you with that..you can tell them lets meet again once the result are with me ...
