exam experience, oct 18 and 19

magni - 10/19/07 20:26

today i had given my step 3 exam. its my second attempt.
qns were as usual too long but manage to finish on time.
yesterday, there were 7 blocks. qns r ok.
today is my second day, qns are easier compared to yesterday. i adviced all to practice qns as much you can and clear the concept. step 3 what u need is concept of disease and its management. discussion with the partner is the best strategy which i experieced this time. this time i practice more qns, discuss with the partner. really step 3 is doable exam , so all the best and pray me for a good score.

my ccs cases are
1. elderly pregnant lady
2. asthma
3. subarachnoid hemorrhage.
4. bullet injury over right lung with bowel perforation with pneumthorax, hemothorax.
5. bacterial meningitis- infant
6. 3rd degree heart block
7. pulmonary nodule with hyponatremia
8.mild gastritis, h pylori negative
9. small bowel obstruction
hope this will help

questions were more or like UW,but so lenghthier that i had to scroll down in a lot of qs especially in ER/in patient qs.
practise different q banks, swanson try to read the summary atleast,v helpful.lot of commonsense qs,god only knows whether they r rt?otherwise UW and swanson are good.
TIMED PRACTISE is so imp, that i had to mark 3-4 qs blindly without reading in ER block.
well ,my ccs ...
elderly female in nursing home ,sexual abuse
Peripheral vascular dis
sigmoid diverticulitis
forign body aspiration
eldrly female with dehydration leading to ARF
adult well visit turned out to be CIN 3,on pap smear.

oxycodone with acetaminophen overdose in cirrotic patient.
ac cholecystitis.
i didnt do well in ccs, forgot to do colonoscopy later in the diverticulitis pt
cirrotic pt didnt improve at all even after liver failure Mx and antidotes
dont know will i pass?

Hi, i took my exam a few days back.
ccs cases which i got were:
16yr old girl with UTI and DKA
vulvar ca
PID
anaphylaxis
MI
Aortic dissection
Tca toxicity
18 mth old child with fe def aneamia
pyloric stenosis

I want to say that all the cases which i got were a total repeat from the cases which other people got,so try n concentrate onthe cases told by various people on the forum, which they actually got in the exam. But in a few cases, presentation was tricky,so u have to be very careful

MCQs were really reaaly vague and sum were really tough as well, that i just had to guess in those

Gl to all.
