release of endotoxin when large numbers of organisms are killed by antibiotics..
Dapsone and i think other antibiotics too can cause it.. correct me if im wrong.

pencillin when given to pts in syphilis.due to release of syphilitic ag and inc the symptoms
at first but resolve after almost24 hrs .

specific to penicillin when used for syphilis
within 24-36 hrs of starting penicillin characterized by fever chills hypotension etc. dapsone treatment causes lepra reaction characterized by transient worsening of symptoms immune reconstitution syndrome is seen when HAART is started as CD4 count increases |
