adult clavicle fracture===>figure of 8 cast
anterior dislocation of shoulder(axillary nerve damage,AP & lat x-rays,hand & arm in shake hand position)===>reduce
posterior dislocation of shoulder(axillary or scapular lateral view x-rays)
colle's fracture====>close reduction and long arm cast
monteggia & galeazzi fracture====>open reduction & internal fixation
fracture of scaphoid bone(non-displaced)====>thumb spica cast with repeat x-rays 3 weeks later
fracture of scaphoid bone(displaced & angulated)===>open reduction and internal fixation
metacarpal necks(4th & 5th)===>closed reduction & ulnar gutter splint for the mild ones,wire or plate fixation for the bad ones
displaced femoral neck fracture===>treat with a metal prosthesis
inter-tronchnateric fracture====>open reduction and pinning,also an additional choice of anti-coagulation can be added due to risk of DVT & pulm embolus due to immobiliztion of the pt.
closed fracture of the femoral shaft===>intramedullary rod fixation
medial collateral lig injury(valgus stress test) & lateral collateral lig injury(varus stress test)===>hinged cast,surgery for torn ligaments
antrior cruciate lig injury(lachman & ant.drawer test)====>Rx sedentary pt.s with immobilization & rehab,athletes require arthroscopic reconstruction
meniscial tear(MRI)===>arthroscopic repair
stress fracture===>cast & repeat x-rays in 2 weeks,crutches another option
tibia & fibula shaft fracture====>castinf=g for easily reducible ones,intramedullary nailing for non-alligned
compartment syndrome====>fasciotomy
rupture of Achille's tendon===>casting in equinus position,open surgical repair for quicker recovery
twisted ankle,displaced fracture of both malleoli====>open reduction & internal fixation
