adult clavicle fracture===>figure of 8 cast

anterior dislocation of shoulder(axillary nerve damage,AP & lat x-rays,hand & arm in shake hand position)===>reduce

posterior dislocation of shoulder(axillary or scapular lateral view x-rays)

colle's fracture====>close reduction and long arm cast

monteggia & galeazzi fracture====>open reduction & internal fixation

fracture of scaphoid bone(non-displaced)====>thumb spica cast with repeat x-rays 3 weeks later

fracture of scaphoid bone(displaced & angulated)===>open reduction and internal fixation

metacarpal necks(4th & 5th)===>closed reduction & ulnar gutter splint for the mild ones,wire or plate fixation for the bad ones

displaced femoral neck fracture===>treat with a metal prosthesis

inter-tronchnateric fracture====>open reduction and pinning,also an additional choice of anti-coagulation can be added due to risk of DVT & pulm embolus due to immobiliztion of the pt.

closed fracture of the femoral shaft===>intramedullary rod fixation

medial collateral lig injury(valgus stress test) & lateral collateral lig injury(varus stress test)===>hinged cast,surgery for torn ligaments

antrior cruciate lig injury(lachman & ant.drawer test)====>Rx sedentary pt.s with immobilization & rehab,athletes require arthroscopic reconstruction

meniscial tear(MRI)===>arthroscopic repair

stress fracture===>cast & repeat x-rays in 2 weeks,crutches another option

tibia & fibula shaft fracture====>castinf=g for easily reducible ones,intramedullary nailing for non-alligned

compartment syndrome====>fasciotomy

rupture of Achille's tendon===>casting in equinus position,open surgical repair for quicker recovery

twisted ankle,displaced fracture of both malleoli====>open reduction & internal fixation
