Do we need to councel all patients?

How did you councel?

Can you please explain councelling? please help . I need your help.

You need to councel all patients who give history of
- Smoking
-Alcohol or drugs
-unprotected sexual history (both male and females...in females i stressed on the fact that even if they are on OCP's...they need barrier contraception because OCP'S provide no protection against STD's)
I took notes while taking history (it also made writing patient notes easier)...asked the patient ...'i hope u don't mind if i take a few notes '...then just wrote point wise ...and circled things which needed coulselling...and after history and examination ...told the patient a few possibilities about the diagnosis and what investigations i'll order ( as given in First Aid) and then in the end ... adressed the issues which needed counselling.
Read the CLOSURE part given at the end of each case in FA...its really good ...it will help u in forming sentences...the main thing is practice all cases completely with someone...the way you are going to do in the exam.
