hello all,
i too am an old img. i do not have such good cred. as you all have and i would be giving my step3 in just 10 days from now.
please i need help--how do we get work as ekg tech. do we have to do any certification course? money is also an issue with me. please advice?

1999 graduate
scores 79/75 -first attempt , cs -second attempt
USCE-10 months
applied 70 prog in fm and 16 psychiatry
so far 1 psy rejection, 2 fm rejections

1992 graduate from Punjab,PR of canada ,89,93,ecfmg certified,step-3 in nov,working as an observer with a Doctor in canada.
1 IV ,6 rejections.

Although I was very happy working as an EKG tech (like a fish back to the water tank, being in a hospital was soooo nice), I am done with working as something other than a physician. The salary does not cover even the day care!
I'll have my one and only shot next year, apply to two residencies in the city I live in, if it does not work, I am going for Nurse College.
But that would be a waste of talent, I don't think God will allow it to happen... (One has to be optimist!)
Good luck to us all. May PDs all over the country recognize our value!

By the way, I am also old grad, 1993. No US LORs/no USCE/ 99/99/passed + publications. Applied 110 IM progs (14/9) and waiting...

To arlete: specialist like CVS/CVIS gets paid on nurse scale, but the job is even better than nurses. Nurses are really nameless heros in this country, they work so hard and need to take the patients' frustration. If without nurse assistants, they will really go crazy. Specialists are more on th technology side, and u do ur scaning, u r done.

Tallahassee Memorial, FL( 09/17, reason: "The applicant pool is extremely competitive")

IM:
Maimonides Medical Center, NY (09/17, no reason stated)

Anesthesia:
University of Cincinnati, OH(09/17, reason: " There are a large number of highly qualified applicants this year, and I have to make difficult decisions.")
