It means they haven't decided on your application

they send you an ambigous message saying something like we've recieved your application and we're reviewing it and we'll contact you by email if u're selected for an interview.....i wouldn't get my hopes up!

it just means if we receive more comptitive applicants that you are, we won't select you. But if we don't have more competitive applicants, they you will have a chance. Imagine programs receive 2000 applicants and they want to invite 120 people for interview. They give you a score lets say 14 out of the total 20 for your credentials. They are not sure how many applicants will score above you on their scoring system. So they will send you that on hold message. But if they determine that there are more than 120 applicants with a score above you, they will send you a rejection.
Thats how I understand it.

i'v e never seen or heard a 'put on hold' being converted to an interview.

That is true. That is because some more competitive applicants will complete their exams late and apply to these programs. Hence the chance of a previous on hold being converted to an IV is slim.

We do not furnish information regarding the status of your file via email or phone. Invitations to interview for Foreign Medical Graduates will not be emailed until the deadline is passed, which is November 1, 2007. Once all applications are received, they will be reviewed and those candidates selected to interview will be contacted via email and those not chosen will also be notified via email, but it may not be until December. Please be patient during this review process. |
