INR is a standardized value...used for PROTHROMBIN TIME...so a PT test done an where in the world will match up to this INR value...i don't know the exact number for INR...but this value for PT test is estimated for patients on warfarin therapy...hope that helps..

hi
INR stands for International Normalised Ratio...
as rightly pointed out it is used for PT estimation (INR - PT)
which is commonly used to monitor warfarin anticoagulation.
Its a ratio.....so INR in normal person is 1........
for treatment the target INR differs depending on condition for which treatment is given......for eg. generally aim for INR of 2.5 - 3 (that is 2 -3 times of normal PT value) for anticaogulation in Atrail fibrillation or treatment of DVT....
aim for value of INR of 3-4 for people on prosthetic valves.
hope this helps
good luck
