High Score helps - srf
#1
We all know that score is not everything. We also know that only one good iv is needed to match. So the million dollar question what role high score can play in getting residency?
I think that it depends on which specialty you are looking for.if you aim for very competitive specialty there may be many candidate with high score.if you have some negative factors like year of graduation,no usce ,no us lor, visa issues high score may not help much initially.
but turn your negatives in positives by getting usce ,us lor ,research.applying to more positions and at right programs etc and then high score will definitely help you in getting iv.
My personal experience is that high score is very very helpful in getting iv. for specialty like psychiatry where there are not many candidates with high score .
although my year of graduation is 1984 I have got 4 iv.
one program where I had iv prefer 85 or above in each step. had I got iv from them if my score were below 85?
During each of those iv they complimented me for my high score.
bottom line
high score helps
it will never harm you
