ok now serious;
In frozen shoulder there is limited range of motion due to stiffness of glenohumeral joint. Chronic pain present but the most prominent symptom is joint stiffness. range of motion is restricted both on active and passive movement in all cardinal movements. a result of pericapsulitis.

Rotator cuff tear or rotator cuff tendinitis presents with severe pain and weakness of the shoulder abduction. Movements of shoulder; positioning the arm above the shoulder aggravate pain. Range of motion is limited only on active movement but is normal on passive flexion. A positive drop arm sign, with inability to actively maintain 90 degree of passive abduction present in large tears

Positive drop sign is in tear.

so in rotator cuff tear range of motion is limited only on active movement but is normal on passive flexion.
In frozen range of motion is restricted both on active and passive movement
