If a patient is asystolic meaning no eletrical activity within the myocardium...what is it your trying to defibrillate/shock?
The reason of defibrillating/shocking the patient is to overload to electrical activity of the myocardium and hope that the SA node takes over and creates the rate and rhythm of the heart patient in pulseless Ventricular tachycardia and Ventricular Fibrillation require Defibrillation PEA requires Defeib patient with other cardiac dysrhythmias with hemodynamic instability warrant defibrillation compliments of: http://www.02demand.com

i think we do?
don`t we?correct me hyatt!!bcoz in pea heart has no rythm thats why pt is pulseless!!

yep..pea no shock..its more of volume and contraction prob..less due to aarythmias
thanks for askin

so how r we managing it as!!???

CPR and drugs-----(epi/Vas)
Defibrillatio for V-fib mX can cause PEA---however here tooo u do CPR---DO not SHock PEA

thnx hyatt!!i apprecaite it!
i alsways thought we difib them!!never had such patient in hospital where i work in!

Well if you do not defibrillate PEA...by all means cardiac compression is needed
Patient has no pulse and required cardiac compressions to maintain perfusion to vital organs http://www.02demand.com |
