I too am interested obgyn, Low scores,have experience back i home country but no USCE.
I hear OBGYN is tuff to get in esp for IMGs , they prefer US citizens or gc holders

This was my second match this year, I am MD in obsGyn back home, Decent Scores (High 80s), US clinical Exp, 4 US LoRs (including from Harvard and Boston Univ), Old Graduate (10 years). Step 3, does not need Visa. Inspite of all this I just got 2 Call in ObGYN, applied to 100 programs. Finally took Prematch in Pedatrics. It is tough, and it even getting tougher every year. Dont just go for ObGYN, ready to make compromise to take some other branch

fuzzy, which programs did you apply to? univ or community? its surprising that despite md at home u didnt get into obgyn. but didnt u try family med coz it has some obgyn and u can do obgyn fellowship later? how did u answer why u want to do peds after doing so much in obgyn? didnt the pd ask you this q? pls do answer and good luck in your residency.

well i feel FM is good back up also again it coms on applying correctly to prog i feel there r various stories on everyone experiences i hope all who aspire ,get it one day

OB/GYN is a lot tougher than I thought. I applied last year on Sept 1st, 2006 graduate, 85,99, passed. No USCE, no VISA. I applied to 50 programs, just 1 iv, didn't match. I am definetively applying for Family this year as back up. I also plan to take step 3 in July in order to improve my chances. USCE is really hard to get, I hope to be luckier this year
