hi que...your scores are fantastic! Congrats!! I highly doubt that you will have any problems getting an EM spot, either in the east or west coast. realize, however, that some parts of california is VERY difficult, due to the sheer volume of applicants. even considering the volume, your scores are good enough to get you into some good programs. i would also consider washington state and oregon, which are nice places to live, and not as competitive (not that you need to look at less competitive programs, b/c as i said, your scores are damn good).

HOWEVER....I do not know about the green card situation. i am a us citizen and us med student. i come to this site to help people out with information, as they request. i can help u out as much as i can, but unfortunately, i can't help u with the green card information, since i don't know it myself. i apologize.

i have a question for you.....how did you get such a good score on step 2? what was your secret?

thanks and i hope i have helped somewhat.

hi que
u know, ever b4 i took step 1, i was visiting this forum and seriously doubted some of the scores posted.
just bcos i thot they were not possible.
but i have met people with fantastic scores, and who were just average joes in med school.
i cant say that everybody tells the truth, but good scores really exist.
thank u for promptly answering.
i noted that u had answered a few qs and was encouraged to ask.
i really like medicine as a whole and enjoyed a spot of ER work as an intern.
i just found out ER is hotly competitive here in the US.
so i dont know.
i dont want to go to california and not the east coast either.
too crowded and fast paced if u catch my drift.
but i really really want an excellent uni program.
any suggestions; esp places where i'll have a chance as img.
thanks a million!
and good luck on ur tests!

you and i are very similar...we both are not fans of the big city, crowded settings....if that is the case, then i would definitely look into washington and/or oregon areas. university of washington....washington state....university of oregon...oregon state, etc....these are all great university settings but are not overwhelming or too crowded.

i would look into these programs and see how img friendly they are.

good luck with everything!!!

if u have more questions, please feel free to post....as u can see, i am on this website often :-)
