PE for hearing loss case - strongman

in uw, the pt with dd (drug induced hearing loss and eardrum damage due to noise). why should we do mainly neuro exam for this pt? any comments?

I think we have to make sure the patient do not have acoustic neuroma.

I havent done UW yet. But from what youve mentioned drugs which are ototoxic may also have neurotoxic effect. Patients may have vertigo, ataxia and neuropathies. So the only way you can catch these symptoms by doing a thorough neurologic examination.

Start with head:
move eyes up and down Do otoscopy
Go to test rhine and weber
Do not forget trigeminal and facial aexploration
Do coordination, gait, and tell that you will do Dix Hallpike maneuver laterTest for another neuropaties, ( VIII dysfunction can be just one of a multiple neuropaty problem)
