aldolase B converts fructose -1- phosphate into Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate which can be used as a substrate for glycolyis in well fed state or as a substrate for gluconeogenesis in starved state.
without aldolase B, fructose accumulates along with frucoose -1- phosphate and damages liver and kidneys. Also fasting hypoglycemia has low levels of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate. So avoid table sugar (sucrose) / fructose in aldolase B deficiency.
