its mentioned in uworld that pacemaker activity is due to inward current of sodium..called funny current..but in kaplan notes i had read that its not known exact but may be due to increased efflux of potassium ...am confused ..which to follow ........kindly help

only the specialized cells of the heart has pacemaker potential, it is though controvertial, it is believed to due to decreased potassium conductance, so potassium efflux is decreased, which increases excitability.

controvertial issues usually are not high yield.
