Hi all,
Just a quick note to encourage those who have been, and are, applying. There is still time left. This time last year, I hadn't even finished all my board exams but applied widely and got several interviews.
Check out scutwork.com if not done so already. Don't let horror stories put you off. There are some university programs that are of a high caliber, good training, great fellowship placement records, but not too famous.
One such example, and there are a few, is the University of Arizona Affiliated Hosps IM Res program in Tucson, Arizona. The Univ Med Centre, where residents are based, is on the US Best Hosp list in a few categories.
They take mostly American grads but foreigners DO get in too.
The opportunities are out there, just keep on searching and don't let anyone discourage you.
