well, many people can not stand to deal with "crazy people" for the rest of their life, especially those who have good creds. they have other better choice like FM, Peds, etc.

probably the lowest paid specialty in medicine.

pay is more than IM or FM ( over 180 Thousand my friend is making).
People dont apply because you have to have a strong personality for this field.
Every one dont have strong personality.
Surgeon are at most risk than any one else from being stick by HIV positive needle.
Rather psychiatrist have least numbers of law suit.
SO my friend be realistic......................
