It should be more like, shame on You. With an attitude like yours, even if you get a spot, I have the feeling you will find something else to complain about. The spots are not just for you, they are for everyone. If a specialist from the UK comes and gets a spot, it will ultimately be beneficial for the patients they treat. Maybe you ought to think about that. Young doctors are getting spots available all the time. And who is this 'we' you are talking about, most US IMGs are not resentful of UK docs.

Dear Dr Patel
a suggestion for you
make a lot of money - build a hospital and a program - and exclude all UK docs from it!
how does it sound?
you would feel a lot better with that.

My view is for those completing postgraduate training/residency in other countries, ACGME should begin another program so that they can do 1-2 years in their respective fields and then go directly into a fellowship. That way it would be much easier for Foreign Surgeons to actually work as Surgeons and forein OBGs to work as OBGs in the US instead of becoming Family Practice residents.

Drshankarpatel has got quite a valid point.

I would like to clarify something. People with MRCP are not specialists, they are merely physicians. To become a specialist in UK, you have to work for about 5 years in a specialty after getting MRCP and then become a cardiologist, nephrologist or whatever. Therefore people with MRCP may be coming to US to gain specialist training after MRCP. America was built on the principle of attracting high-calibre people. Surely that is a good thing?

Karna, I think that hits the nail on the head. Dr Patel is clearly uninformed! I even sent him the link so he can become a MRCP himself!

Dr Patel...It is not a 'degree' it is a 2 day exam like step 3 that you can take after doing 1 postgraduate year (i.e 24 years old!). Stop being a self pitying crybaby.....and go put all your passion and conviction (that ur currently directing as hostility towards a nation's doctors)....and channel it into improving your application.

And one last thing, there would be outrage if we Brits posted a link saying that 'Indian doctor's are so annoying.' It is stereotypical and outright racist! ...you should be ashamed to even write that. It is not appropriate behavior for a physician, and even despite your rudeness, every response from the UK docs has been courteous and gracious.
