27-year-old man intoxication - hopeofglory87
#1
A 27-year-old man has a severe headache and hears intolerable internal commanding voices. He has not slept in 3 days and is scared because he œhas to obey the voice. If he does not obey the voice the headache gets worse. He denies recent use of illicit drugs but admits to experimenting a lot in the past, but now he prefers to smoke œweed. However, he has not done even that in the past 2 months either. He has poor eye contact and laughs inappropriately. He constantly shrugs his right shoulder and the whole left part of his body is shaking. He has a mildly elevated temperature, tachycardia, vertical nystagmus, and muscular rigidity. This presentation is consistent with intoxication with which of the following drugs?

A. Cannabis
B. Cocaine
C. Heroin
D. Mescaline
E. Phencyclidine
