Is it true that (in general) it's tough for IMGs to get residencies in California? Or is this just a myth perpetuated by mean Californians? Please advise -

I applied this match season, with low USMLE scores, and being a foreign grad/non-US citizen/non-greencard holder, and I got 3 interviews in internal medicine in California.....and at good places too.

People said the same to me last year too, but my advice for you sincerely if you want to work in California is to just GO FOR IT! There's no harm if getting the Cali letter is no problem for you.

I applied at the start of last May, and had the letter by the start of July. Two months tops if you send everything all off together.

In reply to the other question, go to the California State Medical Boards Website. You need the letter in order to apply for residency in California.
