How expensive it is to live in Brooklyn,
and how safe is the area around the hospital?

no...the area around the hospital is not that good.....that's flatbush.....but borough park and bedford stuyvesant....are cheap....also safer that flatbush...studio in flatbush would be 850-950...in borough park and bedford....about a 1000....that's if u rent alone without roomies

if u intend to have roomies...u can also rent in brooklyn heights or bayridge..these are about 30 min from SUNY....expensive but nice places...the rent may be affordable if u don't mind roomies....a studio is around 1200 in these areas without roomies

i think SUNY downstate has a dorm arrangment...they let u use it for a month or couple till u can find a place to rent...i'm not sure..that's what one of the residents there told me

if u are keen on housing and looking for a place as good for residency...pick maimonides or winthrop in long island...thay offer subsidised housing for residents and the residency programs are about as good as SUNY downstate
