Hi everyone,

I just wanted to know if anyone had any success with imgprep or residency mail?

Is it a waste of money?

Thanks,

well ,they work if you are looking for usce that is not valued but just fills up the space in your cv.after all what you learned and who is writing the lors matter. now use your judgement.

I really need help getting good letters of recommendation, so I must work in an externship but I do not know how to go about getting one in internal medicine. I am pretty desperate and do not have alot of money. Please if any one can help myself and others I would truly appreciate it.

samira , good lor donot need to come from extenship . observership can get you actually ,great lors. consider doing observership in a university program. there are many places that offer observership for free or mere 250-500 bucks! why dont you give that a try.

Thank you for advising me, however I also have attempts on step 1 and 2 with low scores. I need all of the help I can get, and am basically feeling hopeless. I do not know which hospitals will even take me, so I have been just looking up IMG friendly hospitals online and have been hearing about externships helping people get into residency. I need all the help I can get.

attempts ,in my experience are not that big a challenge to overcome.leave them alone , work on cv . get good lors they will speak for your knowledge and determination. you need to mentally overcome that thought of attempts --so it doent sound disasterous during interviews.
observerships donot require marks just ecfmg cerficate --sometimes not even that --so start looking for them--let me find a post that was written few days back that has links for observership

Good God, I just cannot find the link to the Miami Children's one...! It used to be on their website last year. Maybe you can call them up and ask about it.

And, strangely, Mt Sinai is no longer offerring Neonatology mini-residency. They did last year, I was there...!

Ask them, after all it is paid, and maybe you can lure them into it again..!

Sorry goodnews.

Never applied to California. I don't have a GC, and california is hell for visa-seeking IMGs. When I was in Mt Sinai I knew two people who came all the way from California, to do observership in Miami. So I think there are not many places in California that offer observerships.

I'm sorry its not for pediatrics its for internal medicine. As for my letters of recommendation, they are not good, and not from directors, thats why I would really like to do an externship or observershipand get good letters.
